Removal [09/2018 - 10/2020]: Procedure

  1. RELEASE PARKING BRAKE 
    1. Turn off the electric parking brake AUTO function.
    2. With the power switch on (IG), operate the electric parking brake switch assembly to release the parking brake. Then turn the power switch off.

      HINT: 

      If the parking brake cannot be released, perform the forced release of parking brake.

  2. FORCED RELEASE PARKING BRAKE 
    NOTE:
    • If the parking brake cannot be released by operating the electric parking brake switch assembly, perform forced release by using electric release SST.

      Refer to OPERATION METHOD [10/2017 - 10/2020] 

    • If the parking brake cannot be released even when using electric release SST due to a malfunction in the parking brake actuator with bracket assembly, perform the following procedures.
    1. Remove the No. 1 differential support protector.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

    2. Using a 4 mm long socket hexagon wrench, remove the bolt and release cable cover.

    3. Remove the cap.

      Pull Out Direction
    4. Insert a 4 mm socket hexagon wrench into the release cable and while pushing down, rotate it counterclockwise.

      Push Direction
      Rotate Direction
    5. After checking that the parking brake has been released, install the cap.

      Install in this Direction
      NOTE:

      When installing the cap, make sure it inserted facing the correct direction.

    6. Using a 4 mm long socket hexagon wrench, install the release cable cover with the bolt.

      Torque: 3.0 N.m (31 kgf/cm, 27 in.lbf)

    7. Install the No. 1 differential support protector.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  3. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

    Refer to PRECAUTION [10/2017 - 09/2019] , or refer to PRECAUTION [09/2019 - 10/2020]

  4. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2018 - 09/2019] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2019 - 10/2020]

  5. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET 
    1. Remove the bolt and 6 nuts to disconnect the parking brake actuator assembly with bracket from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

    2. Disconnect the 2 clamps from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

    3. Remove the 3 nuts and parking brake actuator assembly with bracket.

  6. REMOVE CABLE SUPPORT BRACKET 
    1. Remove the cable support bracket in the direction indicated by the arrow shown in the illustration.

  7. REMOVE NO. 2 CABLE SUPPORT BRACKET 
    1. Remove the No. 2 cable support bracket in the direction indicated by the arrow shown in the illustration.

  8. REMOVE NO. 1 CABLE SUPPORT BRACKET

    1. Remove the No. 1 cable support bracket in the direction indicated by the arrow shown in the illustration.
  9. REMOVE NO. 2 ACTUATOR HARNESS CLAMP 
    1. Disconnect the clamp and remove the No. 2 actuator harness clamp.

  10. REMOVE NO. 1 ACTUATOR HARNESS CLAMP 
    1. Disconnect the 2 clamps and remove the No. 1 actuator harness clamp.
