Installation [09/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSTALL STEERING SENSOR 
    1. Align the 2 pins of the spiral cable sub-assembly with the locations shown in the illustration and attach the 6 claws to install the spiral cable sub-assembly to the steering sensor.

  2. INSTALL SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY WITH SENSOR 
    NOTE:
    • Do not replace the spiral cable sub-assembly with the battery connected and the engine switch on (IG).
    • Do not rotate the spiral cable sub-assembly with the battery connected and the engine switch on (IG).
    • Ensure that the steering wheel is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering sensor.
    1. Check that the engine switch is off.
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Check that the front wheels are facing straight ahead.
    4. Attach the 3 claws to install the spiral cable sub-assembly with sensor.
      NOTE:

      When replacing the spiral cable sub-assembly with a new one, remove the lock pin before installing the steering wheel assembly.

    5. Connect the yellow airbag connector to the spiral cable sub-assembly with sensor.

    6. Connect the connectors to the spiral cable subassembly with sensor.
      NOTE:

      When connecting airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

  3. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER 
    1. w/o Driver Monitor Camera:

      (Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 )

    2. w/ Driver Monitor Camera:

      (Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10 )

  4. PLACE FRONT WHEELS TO FACING STRAIGHTAHEAD 
  5. ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY WITH SENSOR 
    NOTE:

    Do not adjust the spiral cable sub-assembly with sensor with the battery connected and the engine switch on (IG).

    1. Check that the engine switch is off.
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Check the check window shown in the illustration.

      HINT: 

      When the spiral cable sub-assembly with sensor is centered, the connector is at the top and the conditions below can be checked.

      • w/o Steering Heater:

        With the steering wheel straight ahead, align the matchmarks to check the colored roller from the check window.

      • w/ Steering Heater:

        With the steering wheel straight ahead, align the matchmarks to check the U-turn point of the cable from the check window.

    4. If the spiral cable sub-assembly with sensor is not centered, center it.
    5. Rotate the spiral cable sub-assembly with sensor counterclockwise slowly by hand until it stops.

      WARNING:

      Do not turn the spiral cable sub-assembly with sensor using the airbag wire harness.

    6. Rotate the spiral cable sub-assembly with sensor 2.5 times clockwise from the lock position to align the matchmarks and check the check window.

      HINT: 

      • The spiral cable sub-assembly with sensor will rotate approximately 2.5 turns to both the left and right from the center.
      • When the spiral cable sub-assembly with sensor is centered, the connector is at the top and the conditions below can be checked.
      • w/o Steering Heater:

        With the steering wheel straight ahead, align the matchmarks to check the colored roller from the check window.

      • w/ Steering Heater:

        With the steering wheel straight ahead, align the matchmarks to check the U-turn point of the cable from the check window.

      If the spiral cable sub-assembly with sensor cannot be centered, it is possible that the spiral cable sub-assembly with sensor is broken. Replace the spiral cable sub-assembly with sensor with a new one.

  6. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to INSTALLATION [09/2015 - ] )

  7. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:
    • Make sure that the cable has been disconnected from the battery terminal for at least 2 seconds before reconnecting the cable.
    • Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal with the front wheels facing straight ahead.
    • When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Refer to INITIALIZATION [09/2015 - ] ).
  8. ENABLE AUTOAWAY/RETURN FUNCTION 
    1. Restore the autoaway/return function setting to the previous condition by changing the customize parameter (Refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [09/2015 - ] ).
  9. INSPECT STEERING PAD 
    1. Make sure that the horn sounds.

      HINT: 

      If the horn does not sound, inspect the horn system (Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [09/2015 - ] ).

  10. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT 

    (Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [09/2015 - ] )

  11. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17
