Installation [09/2015 - ]: Procedure
- INSTALL STEERING SENSOR
- INSTALL SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY WITH SENSOR NOTE:
- Do not replace the spiral cable sub-assembly with the battery connected and the engine switch on (IG).
- Do not rotate the spiral cable sub-assembly with the battery connected and the engine switch on (IG).
- Ensure that the steering wheel is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering sensor.
- Check that the engine switch is off.
- Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.WARNING:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
- Check that the front wheels are facing straight ahead.
- Attach the 3 claws to install the spiral cable sub-assembly with sensor.NOTE:
When replacing the spiral cable sub-assembly with a new one, remove the lock pin before installing the steering wheel assembly.
- Connect the yellow airbag connector to the spiral cable sub-assembly with sensor.
- Connect the connectors to the spiral cable subassembly with sensor.NOTE:
When connecting airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
- INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER
- w/o Driver Monitor Camera:
(Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 )
- w/ Driver Monitor Camera:
(Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10 )
- w/o Driver Monitor Camera:
- PLACE FRONT WHEELS TO FACING STRAIGHTAHEAD
- ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY WITH SENSOR NOTE:
Do not adjust the spiral cable sub-assembly with sensor with the battery connected and the engine switch on (IG).
- Check that the engine switch is off.
- Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.WARNING:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
- Check the check window shown in the illustration.
HINT:
When the spiral cable sub-assembly with sensor is centered, the connector is at the top and the conditions below can be checked.
- w/o Steering Heater:
With the steering wheel straight ahead, align the matchmarks to check the colored roller from the check window.
- w/ Steering Heater:
With the steering wheel straight ahead, align the matchmarks to check the U-turn point of the cable from the check window.

- If the spiral cable sub-assembly with sensor is not centered, center it.
- Rotate the spiral cable sub-assembly with sensor counterclockwise slowly by hand until it stops.WARNING:
Do not turn the spiral cable sub-assembly with sensor using the airbag wire harness.
- Rotate the spiral cable sub-assembly with sensor 2.5 times clockwise from the lock position to align the matchmarks and check the check window.
HINT:
- The spiral cable sub-assembly with sensor will rotate approximately 2.5 turns to both the left and right from the center.
- When the spiral cable sub-assembly with sensor is centered, the connector is at the top and the conditions below can be checked.
- w/o Steering Heater:
With the steering wheel straight ahead, align the matchmarks to check the colored roller from the check window.
- w/ Steering Heater:

Replace the spiral cable sub-assembly with sensor with a new one.
- INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
(Refer to INSTALLATION [09/2015 - ] )
- CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL NOTE:
- Make sure that the cable has been disconnected from the battery terminal for at least 2 seconds before reconnecting the cable.
- Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal with the front wheels facing straight ahead.
- When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Refer to INITIALIZATION [09/2015 - ] ).
- ENABLE AUTOAWAY/RETURN FUNCTION
- Restore the autoaway/return function setting to the previous condition by changing the customize parameter (Refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [09/2015 - ] ).
- INSPECT STEERING PAD
- Make sure that the horn sounds.
HINT:
If the horn does not sound, inspect the horn system (Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [09/2015 - ] ).
- Make sure that the horn sounds.
