Shift Paddle Switch Circuit [08/2015 - 10/2016]: Procedure

  1. CHECK VEHICLE CONDITION 
    1. Choose the model to be inspected.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the A91 ECM connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A91-42 (SFTU) - A91-41 (ECCS) Pull continuously "+" (Up shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      Release "+" (Up shift) 1 MΩ or higher
      A91-43 (SFTD) - A91-41 (ECCS) Pull continuously "-" (Down shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      Release "-" (Down shift) 1 MΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to

  3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTORS (ECM - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the F78 ECM connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F78-53 (E1) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [08/2015 - ]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (ECM - BODY GROUND) 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the K26 spiral cable sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the A91 ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A91-42 (SFTU) - K26-14 (SUP) Always Below 1 Ω
      A91-43 (SFTD) - K26-7 (SDN) Always Below 1 Ω
      A91-41 (ECCS) - K26-2 (ECC) Always Below 1 Ω
      A91-42 (SFTU) or K26-14 (SUP) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A91-43 (SFTD) or K26-7 (SDN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A91-41 (ECCS) or K26-2 (ECC) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  5. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Inspect the spiral cable sub-assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [04/2013 - 10/2016]

    REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [04/2013 - 10/2016]

  6. INSPECT TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH LH) 
    1. Remove the transmission shift switch assembly (shift paddle switch LH).

      Refer to REMOVAL [04/2013 - 10/2016]

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Shift Paddle Switch LH (Transmission Shift Switch Assembly))
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C-1 (SDN) - C-2 (ECC) Pull continuously "-" (Down shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      Release "-" (Down shift) 1 MΩ or higher

      Result

    REPLACE TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH LH). Refer to  COMPONENTS [04/2013 - 10/2016]

  7. INSPECT TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH RH) 
    1. Remove the transmission shift switch assembly (shift paddle switch RH).

      (Shift Paddle Switch RH (Transmission Shift Switch Assembly))

      Refer to REMOVAL [04/2013 - 10/2016]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B-3 (SUP) - B-2 (ECC) Pull continuously "+" (Up shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      Release "+" (Up shift) 1 MΩ or higher

  8. INSPECT NO. 1 SWITCH WIRE 
    1. Install the transmission shift switch assembly.

      Refer to INSTALLATION [04/2013 - 10/2016]

    2. Disconnect the z6 No. 1 switch wire connector from the steering pad switch assembly.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z6-1 (SUP) - z6-3 (ECC) Pull continuously "+" (Up shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      Release "+" (Up shift) 1 MΩ or higher
      z6-2 (SDN) - z6-3 (ECC) Pull continuously "-" (Down shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      Release "-" (Down shift) 1 MΩ or higher

      Result

  9. INSPECT STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the z6 No. 1 switch wire connector to the steering pad switch assembly.

      (to Spiral Cable Sub-assembly)
    2. Disconnect the z4 steering pad switch assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z4-6 (SUP) - z4-7 (ECC) Pull continuously "+" (Up shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      Release "+" (Up shift) 1 MΩ or higher
      z4-12 (SDN) - z4-7 (ECC) Pull continuously "-" (Down shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      Release "-" (Down shift) 1 MΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to

    REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [04/2013 - 10/2016] 

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the A91 ECM connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A91-42 (SFTU) - Body ground Pull continuously "+" (Up shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      Release "+" (Up shift) 1 MΩ or higher
      A91-43 (SFTD) - Body ground Pull continuously "-" (Down shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      Release "-" (Down shift) 1 MΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to

    Result:

    1. Disconnect the K26 spiral cable sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the A91 ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A91-42 (SFTU) - K26-14 (SUP) Always Below 1 Ω
      A91-43 (SFTD) - K26-7 (SDN) Always Below 1 Ω
      A91-42 (SFTU) or K26-14 (SUP) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A91-43 (SFTD) or K26-7 (SDN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
