Shift Paddle Switch Circuit [11/2021 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the A117 ECM connector.

      *a Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to ECM)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Shift Paddle Position Specified Condition
      A117-29 (SFTU) - Body ground Pull continuously "+" (Up shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      Release "+" (Up shift) 1 MΩ or higher
      A117-28 (SFTD) - Body ground Pull continuously "-" (Down shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      Release "-" (Down shift) 1 MΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [11/2021 - ]

    NG

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the K26 spiral cable sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the A117 ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A117-29 (SFTU) - K26-8 (SUP) Always Below 1 Ω
      A117-28 (SFTD) - K26-1 (SDN) Always Below 1 Ω
      A117-29 (SFTU) or K26-8 (SUP) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A117-28 (SFTD) or K26-1 (SDN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the K26 spiral cable sub-assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K26-2 (ECC) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Inspect the spiral cable sub-assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [10/2016 - ]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [10/2016 - ]

    OK

  5. INSPECT TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH LH) 
    1. Remove the transmission shift switch assembly (shift paddle switch LH).

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2021 - ]

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Shift Paddle Switch LH (Transmission Shift Switch))
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B-1 (SDN) - B-2 (ECC) Pull continuously "-" (Down shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      Release "-" (Down shift) 1 MΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH LH). Refer to  COMPONENTS [11/2021 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  6. INSPECT TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH RH) 
    1. Remove the transmission shift switch assembly (shift paddle switch RH).

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2021 - ]

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Shift Paddle Switch RH (Transmission Shift Switch))
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-3 (SUP) - A-2 (ECC) Pull continuously "+" (Up shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      Release "+" (Up shift) 1 MΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH RH). Refer to  COMPONENTS [11/2021 - ]

  7. INSPECT NO. 1 SWITCH WIRE 
    1. Install the transmission shift switch assembly.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (No. 1 switch wire)

      Refer to INSTALLATION [11/2021 - ]

    2. Disconnect the z15 No. 1 switch wire connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z15-1 (SUP) - z15-4 (ECC) Pull continuously "+" (Up shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      Release "+" (Up shift) 1 MΩ or higher
      z15-3 (SDN) - z15-4 (ECC) Pull continuously "-" (Down shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      Release "-" (Down shift) 1 MΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK
