Removal [08/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing (See article. Refer to PRECAUTION [08/2014 - ] ).

    NOTE:

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work (See article. Refer to PRECAUTION [08/2014 - ] ).

  2. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Instrument Cluster Finish Panel) 

    (See article. Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 35 )

  3. DISCONNECT NO. 3 INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE 
    1. Check that the power switch is off.
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Slide the slider to release the lock, and then disconnect the connector.

      NOTE:

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

  4. REMOVE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 39

  5. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:

    When storing the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.

    1. Remove the 2 screws.

    2. Using a screwdriver with the tip wrapped with protective tape, lean the instrument panel and disengage the 3 hooks as shown in the illustration.

      *1 Protective Tape
      NOTE:

      Do not damage the deployment surface of the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly.

    3. Disengage the 3 hooks to remove the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly from the upper instrument panel assembly.

  6. REMOVE NO. 3 INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE 
    1. Using a screwdriver with the tip wrapped with protective tape, release the 2 airbag connector locks.

    2. Disconnect the 2 airbag connectors to remove the No. 3 instrument panel wire from the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly.
      NOTE:

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
