Removal [04/2013 - 08/2015]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL 
  2. DISCONNECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE (for 2WD) 
    1. Disconnect the skid control sensor wire connector from the front axle hub sub-assembly.

  3. SEPARATE FRONT SPEED SENSOR (for AWD) 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and separate the front speed sensor from the steering knuckle.

      NOTE:
      • Prevent foreign matter from contacting the sensor tip.
      • Clean the front speed sensor installation hole and the contact surfaces every time the front speed sensor is removed.
  4. REMOVE FRONT AXLE SHAFT NUT (for AWD) 
    1. Using SST and a hammer, release the staked part of the front axle shaft nut.

      • SST: 09930-00010 
      NOTE:

      Loosen the staked part of the nut completely, otherwise the threads of the drive shaft may be damaged.

    2. While applying the brakes, remove the front axle shaft nut.
  5. SEPARATE FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY 

    See step  2

  6. REMOVE FRONT DISC 

    for 4GR-FSE: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12

    for 2GR-FSE: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  7. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 2WD) 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts, front axle hub sub-assembly and front disc brake dust cover from the steering knuckle.

  8. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for AWD) 
    1. Put matchmarks on the front drive shaft assembly and front axle hub sub-assembly.

      *a Matchmark
    2. Using a plastic hammer, separate the front drive shaft assembly from the front axle hub sub-assembly.
      NOTE:

      Be careful not to damage the drive shaft boot.

      HINT: 

      If it is difficult to separate the front drive shaft assembly from the front axle assembly, tap the end of the front drive shaft assembly using a brass bar and a hammer.

    3. Remove the 4 bolts, front axle hub sub-assembly and front disc brake dust cover from the steering knuckle.
