Removal [04/2013 - 08/2015]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL 
  2. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID 
    NOTE:

    If brake fluid leaks onto any painted surface, immediately wash it off.

  3. DISCONNECT FRONT FLEXIBLE HOSE 
    1. Remove the union bolt and gasket, and disconnect the front flexible hose from the front disc brake cylinder assembly.

  4. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Hold the 2 front disc brake cylinder slide pins and remove the 2 bolts and front disc brake cylinder assembly.

      *a Turn
      *b Hold
  5. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD 
    1. Remove the 2 front disc brake pads from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.

  6. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM KIT 
    1. Remove the front No. 1 disc brake anti-squeal shim and front No. 2 disc brake anti-squeal shim from each front disc brake pad.
    2. Remove the front disc brake pad wear indicator plate from each front disc brake pad.
  7. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD SUPPORT PLATE 
    NOTE:

    Each front disc brake pad support plate has a different shape. Be sure to put an identification mark on each front disc brake pad support plate so that it can be reinstalled to its original position.

    1. for Type A:
      1. Remove the front No. 1 disc brake pad support plate and front No. 2 disc brake pad support plate from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.

    2. for Type B:
      1. Remove the 2 front No. 1 disc brake pad support plates and 2 front No. 2 disc brake pad support plates from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.

  8. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE PIN 
    1. Remove the front disc brake cylinder slide pin from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.

    2. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, remove the front disc brake cylinder slide bushing from the front disc brake cylinder slide pin.
      NOTE:

      Do not damage the front disc brake cylinder slide pin.

  9. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE PIN 
    1. Remove the front No. 2 disc brake cylinder slide pin from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.

  10. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER MOUNTING 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and front disc brake cylinder mounting from the steering knuckle.

    2. Remove the 2 front No. 1 disc brake caliper plates from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.
  11. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE BUSHING DUST BOOT 
    1. Secure the front disc brake cylinder mounting in a vise.

      NOTE:

      Place aluminum plates on the vise to prevent damage to the front disc brake cylinder mounting.

    2. Using a screwdriver and a plastic hammer, remove the 2 front disc brake bushing dust boots.
  12. REMOVE FRONT DISC 
    1. Put matchmarks on the front disc and the front axle hub sub-assembly.

    2. Remove the front disc.
