Removal [10/2016 - 09/2019]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  2. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [10/2016 - 10/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [10/2017 - 09/2020]

  3. DISCONNECT HOOD LOCK CONTROL LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10 [10/2016 - 10/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10 [10/2017 - 09/2020]

  4. REMOVE HOOD LOCK CONTROL LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. for Type A:
      1. Disconnect the hood lock control cable assembly to remove the hood lock control lever sub-assembly.

        HINT: 

        When changing the hood lock control lever sub-assembly from type A to type B, the hood lock control cable assembly must also be changed to type B.

    2. for Type B:
      1. Disconnect the hood lock control cable assembly to remove the hood lock control lever sub-assembly.

        HINT: 

        When changing the hood lock control lever sub-assembly from type B to type A, the hood lock control cable assembly must also be changed to type A.

  5. REMOVE HOOD LOCK RELEASE LEVER PROTECTOR 
    1. Disengage the 2 clips.

    2. Disengage the 2 clamps to remove the hood lock release lever protector.
  6. REMOVE HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the connector.

    2. Remove the 3 bolts.
    3. Disconnect the hood lock control cable assembly to remove the hood lock assembly.

  7. REMOVE UPPER FRONT FENDER PROTECTOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  8. REMOVE HOOD LOCK CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Tie a string to the end of the hood lock control cable assembly.

      HINT: 

      Use a length of string long enough to pass through the engine compartment.

    2. Pull out the hood lock control cable assembly from the grommet as shown in the illustration.

      HINT: 

      Leave the string inside the grommet.

    3. Disconnect the string from the hood lock control cable assembly.
    4. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 5 clamps.

      HINT: 

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    5. Pull the hood lock control cable assembly from the engine compartment to remove it.

      HINT: 

      • When changing the hood lock control cable assembly from type A to type B, the hood lock control lever sub-assembly must also be changed to type B.
      • When changing the hood lock control cable assembly from type B to type A, the hood lock control lever sub-assembly must also be changed to type A.
