REMOVAL (To 08/2009): Removal

PRECAUTION
WARNING:
Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing. Refer to PRECAUTION .

NOTE:
w/ Navigation System for HDD:

After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, make sure to wait at least 60 seconds before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
WARNING:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

NOTE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to INITIALIZATION .
REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 3
REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 4
REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 21
REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL GARNISH LH . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 22
REMOVE NO. 1 SWITCH HOLE BASE . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 23
REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 24
REMOVE DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
WARNING:
When storing the driver side knee airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.
1. Check that the engine switch is off.
2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
  WARNING:
  Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
3. Remove the 4 bolts.

4. Disengage the 2 claws and 2 hooks to separate the driver side knee airbag assembly.
5. Disengage the claw to remove the hood lock control cable.

6. Using a screwdriver with the tip wrapped with protective tape, disconnect the airbag connector to remove the driver side knee airbag assembly.

  When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
