REMOVAL (To 8/2009): Removal

NOTE:

The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) must be input into a replacement ECM. Refer to REGISTRATION .

  1. PRECAUTION (w/ Navigation System for HDD) 
    NOTE:

    After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, make sure to wait at least 60 seconds before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

  2. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the windshield wiper motor and link assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .
  3. REMOVE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER CAP (w/ Air Suspension)  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 3
  4. REMOVE OUTER COWL TOP PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 11
  5. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 34
  6. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    WARNING:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system. Refer to PRECAUTION .

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to INITIALIZATION .

  7. REMOVE NO. 2 AIR CLEANER INLET  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 35
  8. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 36
  9. REMOVE BATTERY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 37
  10. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY  See step  13
  11. REMOVE ECM 
    1. Separate the wire harness clamp.

    2. Separate the wire harness clamp.

    3. Disconnect the 2 ECM connectors and remove the ECM with brackets.
      1. Push in the locks on the 2 levers, raise the levers, and disconnect the 2 ECM connectors.
        NOTE:

        After disconnecting the connectors, make sure that dirt, water or other foreign matter does not contact the connecting part of the connectors.

      2. Remove the 3 bolts and the ECM with bracket.

    4. Remove the 5 screws and 2 ECM brackets.

      *1 ECM Bracket
