INSTALLATION (To 8/2009): Installation

  1. INSTALL BRAKE PEDAL SUPPORT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the brake pedal support assembly with the 4 nuts.

      Torque: 13 N*m (130 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf) 

    2. Install the brake pedal support assembly to the instrument panel reinforcement with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 35 N*m (357 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf) 

    3. Connect the brake pedal load sensing switch connector and engage the clamp.

  2. CONNECT BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD CLEVIS 
    1. Apply lithium soap base glycol grease to the push rod pin.

    2. Connect the brake master cylinder push rod clevis to the brake pedal with the push rod pin, and install a new clip as shown in the illustration.
  3. INSTALL BRAKE PEDAL RETURN SPRING 
    1. Install the brake pedal return spring between the instrument panel reinforcement and push rod pin.

  4. INSTALL STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
  5. INSTALL NO. 4 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Engage the guide and claw to install the No. 4 air duct sub-assembly.

      NOTE:

      Do not damage the claw or guide.

  6. INSTALL DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
  7. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 36
  8. INSTALL NO. 1 SWITCH HOLE BASE  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 37
  9. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL GARNISH LH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 38
  10. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 39
  11. INSTALL COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 59
  12. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 60
  13. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to INITIALIZATION .

  14. INSPECT AND ADJUST BRAKE PEDAL HEIGHT  See step  1
  15. INSPECT BRAKE PEDAL FREE PLAY  See step  2
  16. INSPECT BRAKE PEDAL RESERVE DISTANCE  See step  3
  17. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
