INSTALLATION (To 08/2009): Installation

  1. INSTALL DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check that the engine switch is off.
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Engage the claw to connect the hood lock control cable to the driver side knee airbag assembly.

    4. Connect the airbag connector to the driver side knee airbag assembly.
      NOTE:

      When connecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

    5. Temporarily install the driver side knee airbag assembly with the 2 claws and 2 hooks.

    6. Install the driver side knee airbag assembly with the 4 bolts.

      Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) 

      NOTE:

      Confirm that the driver side knee airbag assembly is installed securely without any excessive gaps and is not protruding outward.

  2. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 36
  3. INSTALL NO. 1 SWITCH HOLE BASE  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 37
  4. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL GARNISH LH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 38
  5. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 39
  6. INSTALL COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 59
  7. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 60
  8. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to INITIALIZATION .

  9. PERFORM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK 
    1. Perform a diagnostic system check. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
  10. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT 
    1. Inspect the SRS warning light. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM .
  11. INSPECT SUSPENSION CONTROL SYSTEM 
    1. Inspect the suspension control system. Refer to TEST MODE PROCEDURE .
