DTC P3107-213: Airbag ECU Communication Circuit Malfunction: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (AIRBAG) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / SRS Airbag / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Airbag system DTCs are not output. A
      Airbag system DTCs are output. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   10 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (CHECK WAVEFORM) 
    1. Turn the power switch on (READY).
    2. Connect an oscilloscope between the airbag sensor assembly terminals specified in the table below, and measure the waveform.

      Terminal F34-14 (GSW2) - F34-25 (E1)
      Equipment Setting 5 V/DIV., 500 ms./DIV.
      Condition Power switch on (READY)

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      The waveform appears as shown in the illustrationFig 1. A
      The waveform differs from the one shown in the illustrationFig 1. B

      *1 Component with harness connected
      (Airbag Sensor Assembly)
    3. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   6 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. CLEAR DTC. Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5 

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC P3107-213 is not output. A
      DTC P3107-213 is output. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   8 

    A: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 
    1. Check for intermittent problems. Refer toCHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS .

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

    OK → See step   8 

  6. CHECK AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect connector F34 from the airbag sensor assembly.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      F34-14 (GSW2) - F34-25 (E1) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Component without harness connected
      (Airbag Sensor Assembly)
    3. Connect the airbag sensor assembly.

    NG → See step   9 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect connector A58 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
    2. Disconnect connector F34 from the airbag sensor assembly.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A58-73 (ABFS) or F34-14 (GSW2) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU)
      *2 Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to Airbag Sensor Assembly)
    4. Connect the airbag sensor assembly.
    5. Connect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   8 

  8. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to COMPONENTS 
  9. REPLACE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to COMPONENTS 
  10. GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART
