DTC P2601-779: Oil Pump Control Circuit Range / Performance: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      P2601-779 only is output. A
      P0A08-264 is also output. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   10 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK FUSE (OIL PMP) 
    1. Remove the OIL PMP fuse from the engine room junction block assembly.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      OIL PMP fuse Always Below 1Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Engine Room Junction Block Assembly
      *2 OIL PMP Fuse
    3. Install the OIL PMP fuse.

    NG → REPLACE FUSE (OIL PMP) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT RELAY (OIL PMP) 
    1. Remove the OIL PMP relay from the engine room junction block assembly.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Always 151 to 203 Ω
      3 - 5 Auxiliary battery voltage is not applied between terminals 1 and 2 10 kΩ or higher
      Auxiliary battery voltage is applied between terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 Ω
    3. Install the OIL PMP relay.

    NG → REPLACE RELAY (OIL PMP) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AUXILIARY BATTERY - OIL PUMP - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative auxiliary battery terminal.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the positive auxiliary battery terminal.
    3. Remove the OIL PMP relay from the engine room junction block assembly.
    4. Disconnect the A15 connector from the oil pump with motor assembly.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition Resistance
      Positive auxiliary battery terminal - OIL PMP relay terminal 3 Power switch off Below 2 Ω R1
      OIL PMP relay terminal 5 - A15-4 (L) Power switch off Below 2 Ω R2
      A15-1 (OPG) - Body ground Power switch off Below 2 Ω R3

      *1 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Oil Pump with Motor Assembly)
      *2 Engine Room Junction Block Assembly
      *3 OIL PMP Relay

      OK

      Combined resistance (R1, R2 and R3) of each part in the wire harness is below 6 Ω.

    6. Connect the oil pump with motor assembly connector.
    7. Install the OIL PMP relay.
    8. Connect the cable to the positive auxiliary battery terminal.
    9. Connect the cable to the negative auxiliary battery terminal.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - OIL PUMP WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Remove the OIL PMP relay from the engine room junction block assembly.
    2. Disconnect connector A58 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A58-6 (OPM2) - OIL PMP relay terminal 1 Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      A58-6 (OPM2) or OIL PMP relay terminal 1 - Body ground Power switch off Below 1 Ω

      (to Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU)
      *2 Engine Room Junction Block Assembly
      *3 OIL PMP Relay
    4. Connect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    5. Install the OIL PMP relay.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. REPLACE OIL PUMP WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the oil pump with motor assembly. Refer toCOMPONENTS .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  7. CLEAR DTC. Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5 

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      P2601-779 is not output. A
      P2601-779 is output again. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   11 

    A: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 
    1. Check for intermittent problems. Refer toCHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS .

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS 

    OK → COMPLETED 

  10. GO TO DTC CHART (P0A08-264). Refer to DTC P0A08-264: DC / DC Converter Status Circuit 
  11. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to COMPONENTS
