DTC P2519-766: A/C Request "A" Circuit: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC P2519-766 is not output. A
      Any of the following DTCs are also output. B
      DTC No. Relevant Diagnosis
      P0AE6-225 Hybrid Battery Precharge Contactor Control Circuit Low

    B → See step   9 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (HYBRID VEHICLE CONVERTER CONNECTOR). Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (BATTERY SMART UNIT CONNECTOR) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Check the connection of the battery smart unit connectors.

      OK

      The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact problems.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK BATTERY SMART UNIT 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Connect an oscilloscope between the battery smart unit terminals specified in the table below, and measure the waveform.

      Equipment Setting 2 V/DIV., 2 ms./DIV.
      Condition Power switch on (IG)

      Result

      The waveform does not appears as shown in the illustrationFig 2. A

      HINT: 

      The frequency of the waveform differs according to operation conditions of the cooling fan of the hybrid vehicle converter.

      Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   7 

    A: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK BATTERY SMART UNIT 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.

      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Disconnect connector z17 from the hybrid vehicle converter.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      z17-5 (IDH) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      NG A
      OK B

    5. Turn the power switch off.
    6. Connect the hybrid vehicle converter connector.

    B → See step   8 

    A: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY SMART UNIT - HYBRID VEHICLE CONVERTER) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.

    2. Disconnect connector z15 from the battery smart unit connector.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      z15-4 (IDH) - Body ground Below 1 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle converter (DC/DC converter) connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    5. Turn the power switch off.
    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      z15-4 (IDH) - z17-5 (IDH) Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      z15-4 (IDH) or z17-5 (IDH) - Body ground 10 kΩ or more

      (to Hybrid Vehicle Converter (DC/DC Converter))
    7. Connect the battery smart unit connector.
    8. Connect the hybrid vehicle converter connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   7 

  7. REPLACE BATTERY SMART UNIT. Refer to COMPONENTS 
  8. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONVERTER. Refer to COMPONENTS 
  9. GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART
