Inspection Procedure

HINT:

Check the condition of each related circuit connector before troubleshooting (See ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE ).

  1. INSPECT TRANSFER CONTROL SOLENOID ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the transfer transmission wire connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS

      Tester Connection Condition
      E54-1 - E54-3 5.0 to 5.5 Ω
      E54-1 - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      E54-3 - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG:  Go to step  3

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSFER TRANSMISSION WIRE TO 4WD CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the 4WD control ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      A32-13 (SLC+) - E54-1 (BSF) Below 1 Ω
      A32-32 (SLC-) - E54-3 (SLC) Below 1 Ω
      A32-13 (SLC+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      A32-32 (SLC-) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
    3. Connect the transfer transmission wire connector and 4WD control ECU connector.

      OK A
      OK (when troubleshooting in accordance with PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE) B
      NG C

    B: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  

    C: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (SLC+, SLC- CIRCUIT) 

    A: REPLACE 4WD CONTROL ECU 

  3. INSPECT TRANSFER CONTROL SOLENOID ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the transfer control solenoid assembly (See REMOVAL  ).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS

      Tester Connection Condition
      Terminal 1 - Terminal 2 5.0 to 5.5 Ω

    NG: REPLACE TRANSFER CONTROL SOLENOID ASSEMBLY 

    OK: REPLACE TRANSFER TRANSMISSION WIRE
