Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Lexus IS F. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: When the seat belt control ECU is replaced with a new one, Initialization must be performed (See INITIALIZATION  ).
  1. INSPECT FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Disconnect the Q13 connector of the front seat outer belt assembly LH.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Q13-1 - Q13-2 Always Below 1 MΩ

    NG: REPLACE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY LH  (See REMOVAL )

    OK: Go to next Step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY LH - SEAT BELT CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
      NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See INITIALIZATION ).
    2. Disconnect the Q38 connector of the seat belt control ECU
    3. Using SST, connect Q13-1 and Q13-2 of the wire harness connector for the front seat outer belt assembly LH
      NOTE: Do not forcibly insert SST into the terminals of the connector.

      SST 09843-18040 

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Q38-2 (MOL+) - Q38-11 (MOL-) Always Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE SEAT BELT CONTROL ECU  (See SEAT BELT CONTROL ECU  )
