Inspection Procedure

NOTE:
- If the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) is replaced, register the key (See REGISTRATION ).
- If the steering lock ECU (steering lock actuator assembly) is replaced, register the ECU code (See REGISTRATION ).
- CHECK FOR DTC
- Clear the DTC (See DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM )
- Recheck for DTC
OK: B2786 is not output.
NG: Go to step 2
OK: USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEERING LOCK ECU BATTERY VOLTAGE AND GROUND)
- Disconnect the J29 ECU connector.
- Measure the resistance and voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
RESISTANCE REFERENCETester Connection Condition Specified Condition J29-1 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω Standard Voltage
VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Condition Specified Condition J29-7 (B) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR, OR REPLACE FUSE
OK: Go to Next Step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CERTIFICATION ECU - STEERING LOCK ECU)
- Disconnect the P33 ECU connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
RESISTANCE REFERENCETester Connection Condition Specified Condition P33-10 (LIN) - J29-5 (LIN) Always Below 1 Ω P33-10 (LIN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to Next Step
- REPLACE STEERING LOCK ECU (STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY)
- Replace the steering lock ECU (steering lock actuator assembly) (See DISASSEMBLY ).
- CHECK FOR DTC
- Clear the DTC (See DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM )
- Recheck for DTC
OK: B2786 is not output.
NG: REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) (See REMOVAL )
OK: END (STEERING LOCK ECU IS DEFECTIVE)
