Center Airbag Sensor Assembly: Removal

  1. PRECAUTION 
    CAUTION: Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing (See PRECAUTION  ).
  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
    NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See INITIALIZATION ).
  3. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  4. REMOVE UPPER NO. 1 CONSOLE PANEL GARNISH  (See REMOVAL )
  5. REMOVE UPPER NO. 2 CONSOLE PANEL GARNISH  (See REMOVAL )
  6. REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  7. REMOVE FRONT ASH RECEPTACLE ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  8. REMOVE REAR ASH RECEPTACLE ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  9. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX REGISTER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  10. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX  (See REMOVAL )
  11. REMOVE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check that the engine switch is off
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal
      CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
    3. Disconnect the holder (with connectors)
      NOTE: When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
    4. Remove the 2 bolts, nut and center airbag sensor assembly.
