Inspection Procedure
- CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CONDITION
- Turn the engine switch on (IG)
- Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation
HINT
Refer to the normal condition of the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator (See DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM )

RESULT CHARTON/OFF Indicator Illumination Proceed to Always ON A OFF B
B: Go to step 9
A: Go to next step
- CHECK CONNECTOR
- Turn the engine switch off
- Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds
- Check that the connector is properly connected to the clock assembly*1 or integration control and panel assembly*2
OK: The connector is properly connected.
HINT
If the connector is not connected securely, reconnect the connector and proceed to the next inspection.
- Disconnect the connector from the clock assembly*1 or integration control and panel assembly*2
- Check that the terminal of the connector is not damaged.
OK: The terminal is not deformed or damaged.
HINT
- *1 w/ Navigation system
- *2 w/o Navigation system
NG: REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR
- Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
- Turn the engine switch on (IG)
- Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.
OK: The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator does not come on.
NG: Go to step 5
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY
- Turn the engine switch off
- Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds
- Connect the connector to the center airbag sensor assembly
- Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
- Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR ).
- Turn the engine switch off.
- Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds
- Check for DTCs (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR
)
OK: DTC B1660/43 is not output.
HINT.
Codes other than DTC B1660/43 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check
NG: REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
OK: USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK (See DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM )
- CHECK CONNECTOR
- Turn the engine switch off
- Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds
- Check that the connector is properly connected to the clock assembly*1 or integration control and panel assembly*2.
OK: The connector is properly connected.
HINT.
If the connector is not connected securely, reconnect the connector and proceed to the next inspection.
- Disconnect the connector from the clock assembly*1 or integration control and panel assembly*2.
- Check that the terminal of the connector is not damaged
OK: The terminal is not deformed or damaged.

NG: REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE (OPEN)
- Using SST, connect terminals 23 (PAON) and 17 (P-AB) of connector B
NOTE: Do not forcibly insert SST into the terminals of the connector when connecting.

- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

- CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE (SHORT TO GROUND)
- Disconnect SST from connector B
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below

A: REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE
- CHECK CONNECTORS
- Turn the engine switch off
- Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds
- Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor assembly and the clock assembly*1 or integration control and panel assembly*2
OK: The connectors are properly connected.
HINT:
If the connectors are not connected securely, reconnect the connectors and proceed to the next inspection
- Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor assembly and the clock assembly*1 or integration control and panel assembly*2.
- Check that the terminals of the connectors are not damaged
OK: The terminals are not deformed or damaged.

NG: REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE (OPEN)
- Using SST, connect terminals 23 (PAON) and 17 (P-AB) of connector B.

- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below

- Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
- Connect the connector to the clock assembly*1 or integration control and panel assembly*2
HINT.

- Disconnect the connector from the center airbag sensor assembly
- Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal
- Turn the engine switch on (IG)
- Check the indicator according to the conditions in the table below.
