Inspection Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Lexus IS F. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- CHECK HARNESS AND TRANSMISSION WIRE (TRANSMISSION WIRE - TCM, TRANSMISSION WIRE (SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL))
- Disconnect the TCM connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Condition Specified Condition E59-24 (SL) - Body ground Always 11 to 15 Ω
NG: Go to step 3
OK: Go to Next Step
- REPLACE TCM
- Replace the TCM (See REMOVAL ).
NEXT: PERFORM A/T CODE REGISTRATION (See REGISTRATION )
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION WIRE - TCM)
- Disconnect the transmission wire connector
- Disconnect the TCM connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below
Standard Resistance
STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Condition Specified Condition E47-7 (SL) - E59-24 (SL) Always Below 1 Ω E47-7 (SL) or E59-24 (SL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to Next Step
- INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL
- Remove the shift solenoid valve SL (See DISASSEMBLY )
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below
Standard Resistance
STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Condition Specified Condition Shift solenoid valve SL connector - Shift solenoid valve SL Body 20°C (68°F) 11 to 15 Ω - Connect a battery positive (+) lead to the terminal of the solenoid valve connector, and a negative (-) lead to the solenoid body. Then check that the valve moves and makes an operating sound
OK: Valve moves and makes an operating sound.
NG: REPLACE SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL (See DISASSEMBLY )
OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE TRANSMISSION WIRE (See REMOVAL )
