Inspection Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (TPS 1 SW SIGNAL) 
    1. Connect terminals TPS1 and E1 of the TCM connectors.

      HINT:

      Before checking, perform visual and contact pressure checks on the TCM connectors.

    2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    4. Turn the Techstream on.
    5. Enter the following menus. Powertrain / ECT / Data List
    6. Read the value displayed on the Techstream

      Standard 

      STANDARD SPECIFICATION

      Tester Display Condition
      TPS 1 Switch ON Gear is 1st to 5th
      TPS 1 Switch OFF Gear is 6th to 8th; or shift lever is in P, N or R

    NG: Go to step  3

    OK: Go to next Step 

  2. REPLACE TCM 
    1. Replace the TCM (See REMOVAL  ).

    NEXT: PERFORM A/T CODE REGISTRATION  (See REGISTRATION  )

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION WIRE - TCM) 
    1. Disconnect the transmission wire connector
    2. Disconnect the TCM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E47-17 (TPS1) - E59-9 (TPS1) Always Below 1 Ω
      E47-17 (TPS1) or E59-9 (TPS1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next Step 

  4. INSPECT TRANSMISSION WIRE (OIL PRESSURE SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the oil pressure switch connector (See REMOVAL  ).
    2. Disconnect the transmission wire connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Oil pressure switch connector-17 (TPS1) Always Below 1 Ω
      Oil pressure switch connector or 17 (TPS1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE TRANSMISSION WIRE  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK: REPLACE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH  (See DISASSEMBLY  )
