      0% Normal engine speed
      100% Engine idles roughly

    NG: Go to step  4

    OK: Go to next step

  3. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P0014, P0015, P0024 OR P0025)
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream ON
    3. Clear DTCs (See DTC CHECK/CLEAR )
    4. Start the engine and warm it up.
    5. Switch the ECM from normal mode to check mode using the Techstream (See CHECK MODE PROCEDURE ).
    6. With the engine warmed up, idle it for 1 minute Then drive the vehicle for 5 minutes
    7. Read the DTCs using the Techstream

      Result

      RESULT CHART

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      DTC P0014, P0015, P0024 or P0025 is output B

    B: Go to step 4

A: CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS  (See CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS )

  4. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (FOR EXHAUST SIDE)
    1. Remove the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly for bank 1 and/or bank 2 (See REMOVAL )
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below

      Standard Resistance

NG: REPLACE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (BANK 1 AND/OR BANK 2)  (See REMOVAL )

    OK: Go to next step

  5. INSPECT OIL CONTROL VALVE FILTER (BANK 1 AND/OR BANK 2)
    1. Remove the cylinder head cover sub-assembly (See DISASSEMBLY ).
    2. Remove the camshaft timing oil control valve filter (See DISASSEMBLY )
    3. Inspect the camshaft timing oil control valve filter

      OK: Filter is not clogged.

    4. Reinstall the camshaft timing oil control valve filter (See REASSEMBLY )
    5. Reinstall the cylinder head cover sub-assembly (See REASSEMBLY )

NG: REPLACE OIL CONTROL VALVE FILTER  (See DISASSEMBLY )

    OK: Go to next step

  6. CHECK VALVE TIMING (CHECK FOR LOOSE AND JUMPED TEETH ON TIMING CHAIN)  (See DTC P0017 CRANKSHAFT POSITION - CAMSHAFT POSITION CORRELATION (BANK 1 SENSOR B); DTC P0019 CRANKSHAFT POSITION - CAMSHAFT POSITION CORRELATION (BANK 2 SENSOR B)  )

    7. Read output DTCs using the Techstream.

      Result

      RESULT CHART

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      DTC P0014, P0015, P0024 or P0025 is output B

      HINT

DTC P0014, P0015, P0024 or P0025 is output when foreign objects in engine oil are caught in some parts of the system These codes will stay registered even if the system returns to normal after a short time These foreign objects are then captured by the oil, thus eliminating the source of the problem

B: REPLACE ECM  (See REMOVAL )

    A: END
