Rear Door: Installation

HINT:

Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart (see STANDARD BOLT ).

INSTALL REAR DOOR WIRE LH
1. Install the door wire.
2. Connect the wire clips.
INSTALL REAR DOOR CHECK ASSEMBLY LH
1. Apply MP grease to the sliding areas of the door check.
2. Install the door check to the door panel with the 2 nuts.
  Torque: 8.0 N*m (82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf)
3. Apply adhesive to the threads of the bolt.
  Adhesive:
  
  Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent
4. Install the door check to the body panel with the bolt.
  Torque: 27.0 N*m (275 kgf*cm, 20 ft.*lbf)
5. Install the cover.
INSTALL REAR DOOR WEATHERSTRIP LH
1. Clean the vehicle body surface.
  1. Using a heat light, heat the vehicle body surface.
  2. Remove the double-sided tape from the vehicle body.
  3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.
2. Install the 18 clips and weatherstrip.
INSTALL DOOR ELECTRICAL KEY OSCILLATOR (for Rear Door)
1. Install the screw and door electrical key oscillator.
INSTALL BACK DOOR NO. 3 WIRE
1. Install the door No. 3 wire to the frame.
2. Connect the connector.
INSTALL REAR DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE FRAME SUB-ASSEMBLY
1. Install the open rod to the outside handle frame.
2. Using a T30 "TORX" socket, install the outside handle frame with the screw.
  Torque: 4.0 N*m (41 kgf*cm, 3.0 in.*lbf)
  
  NOTE: A cover should be inserted between the nut and the door panel.

3. Attach the 2 clamps and connect the door No. 3 wire.

INSTALL REAR DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE PAD REAR
1. Attach the 2 claws to install the pad.

INSTALL REAR DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE PAD FRONT
1. Attach the 3 claws to install the pad.

INSTALL REAR DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE ASSEMBLY LH
1. Insert the front end of the rear door outside handle assembly into the rear door outside handle frame.
  NOTE: If the bellcrank lever is not pulled and held when installing the outside handle, the bellcrank lever will interfere with the outside handle and it will damage the release plate.
2. Connect the connector.

3. Using a T30 "TORX" socket, tighten the screw.

INSTALL REAR DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE COVER LH
1. Using a T30 "TORX" socket, install the cover with the screw.

INSTALL REAR DOOR INSIDE LOCKING LH CABLE ASSEMBLY
1. Install the rear door inside locking cable assembly.

2. Engage the 3 claws.

INSTALL REAR DOOR LOCK REMOTE CONTROL LH CABLE ASSEMBLY
1. Install the rear door lock remote control cable assembly.
2. Engage the claw.

INSTALL REAR DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY LH
1. w/o Door Closer:
  1. Apply adhesive to the threads of the 3 screws.
    Adhesive:
    
    Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent
  2. Using a T30 "TORX" wrench, install the door lock with the 3 screws.
    Torque: 5.5 N*m (56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf)
  3. Connect the door lock connector.
2. w/ Door Closer:
  1. Apply adhesive to the threads of the 5 screws.
  2. Using a T30 "TORX" wrench, install the door lock with the 3 screws labeled A and 2 screws labeled B.
    Torque: 5.5 N*m (56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf) for screw A and screw B
3. Connect the door lock connector.
INSTALL POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR ASSEMBLY LH REAR
1. Apply MP grease to sliding and rotating areas of the regulator motor.
2. Using a T25 "TORX" driver, install the motor with the 3 screws.
  Torque: 5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf)

INSTALL REAR DOOR WINDOW REGULATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
1. Apply MP grease to the sliding and rotating areas of the window regulator.
2. Install the regulator with the 4 bolts.
  Torque: 11.0 N*m (115 kgf cm, 8 ft.*lbf)
3. Connect the connector.
  NOTE: Be careful not to drop the window regulator as it may become damaged.
INSTALL REAR DOOR BELT MOULDING LH
1. Attach the clip to install the belt moulding.
2. Install the 5 screws.
  HINT:
  
  Install the screws in the order shown in the illustration.
3. Tighten the 5 belt line screws indicated by the arrows in the illustration.

INSTALL REAR DOOR WINDOW FRAME MOULDING UPPER LH
1. for Standard Body:
  1. Install the rear door window frame moulding upper (see INSTALLATION ).
2. for Long Body:
  1. Install the rear door window frame moulding upper (see INSTALLATION ).
INSTALL REAR DOOR WINDOW GUIDE SUB-ASSEMBLY FRONT LH
1. Install the rear door window guide sub-assembly front LH with the 2 bolts.
INSTALL REAR DOOR GLASS SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
NOTE: Be careful not to drop and deform the rear door window regulator.
1. Install the rear door glass with the 2 bolts.
  Torque: 5.5 N*m (56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf)
  
  HINT:
  - Insert a cloth inside the door panel to prevent the door glass from being scratched.
  - Position the door glass toward the front as much as possible.
2. Install the hole plug.
INSTALL REAR DOOR QUARTER WINDOW GLASS LH
1. Install the quarter glass together with the belt moulding in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration.
INSTALL REAR DOOR GLASS RUN LH
1. Install the rear door glass run to the division bar assembly.
INSTALL REAR DOOR WINDOW DIVISION BAR SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
1. Install the division bar with the 2 nuts.

INSTALL REAR DOOR DIVISION BAR BRACKET LOWER LH
1. Install the 3 nuts and division bar bracket to the door panel.

INSTALL REAR DOOR SERVICE HOLE COVER LH
1. Install the rear door service hole cover to the door panel.
  HINT:
  - When installing the service hole cover, pull out the links and connectors through the service hole cover.
  - There should be no wrinkles or folds after attaching the service hole cover.
  - After attaching the service hole cover, check the sealing quality.

INSTALL REAR DOOR ECU LH
1. Install the 2 screws and ECU.
2. Connect the 3 connectors.
INSTALL REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY (for 19 Speakers) (See INSTALLATION )
INSTALL REAR DOOR SPEAKER COVER
1. Install the speaker cover with the 3 screws.
2. Connect the connector.
INSTALL REAR NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY (See INSTALLATION )
INSTALL REAR DOOR GLASS WEATHERSTRIP INNER LH
1. for Long Body:
  1. Install the rear door glass weatherstrip inner to the door panel.

  1. Install the rear door glass weatherstrip inner to the door panel.

INSTALL SIDE TRIM BOARD COVER REAR LH (w/ Rear Door Sunshade)
1. Install the curtain rail side cover with the 2 screws.

1. for Long Body:
  1. Install the rear curtain sub-assembly with the 10 screws and 4 clips.

2. for Standard Body:
  1. Install the rear curtain sub-assembly with the 10 screws and 3 clips.
INSTALL REAR DOOR NO. 2 WEATHERSTRIP LH
1. Attach the clip to install the rear door No. 2 weatherstrip LH.
INSTALL REAR DOOR NO. 2 FRAME GARNISH LH
1. Attach the claws and install the door frame garnish.

1. Place double-sided tape on the rear door weatherstrip as shown in the illustration.

2. Install the rear door No. 3 weatherstrip.

1. Attach the 5 clips to install the trim cover.
2. Install the screw.
INSTALL REAR SEAT MEMORY SWITCH
1. Install the rear seat memory switch.
2. Connect the connector.
INSTALL COURTESY LIGHT ASSEMBLY
1. Install the courtesy light.
2. Connect the connector.
INSTALL REAR DOOR INSIDE HANDLE ILLUMINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY LH
1. Connect the connector.
2. Attach the claw to install the light.

  1. Connect the 2 cables to the inside handle.

  3. Install the rear door trim with the 3 screws and 13 clips.

2. for Standard Body:
  1. Connect the 2 cables to the inside handle.
  2. Connect the connector.
  3. Install the rear door trim with the 3 screws and 11 clips.
INSTALL REAR DOOR TRIM BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (w/ Rear Door Sunshade)
1. for Long Body:
  1. Connect the 2 cables to the inside handle.
  2. Connect the connector.
  3. Install the rear door trim with the 3 screws and 14 clips.

2. for Standard Body:
  1. Connect the 2 cables to the inside handle.

  3. Install the rear door trim with the 3 screws and 12 clips.

INSTALL POWER WINDOW REGULATOR SWITCH ASSEMBLY REAR
1. Connect the connector.
2. Attach the 2 clips to install the power window regulator switch assembly rear.
INSTALL REAR DOOR INSIDE HANDLE BEZEL PLUG LH
1. Attach the 3 claws to install the bezel plug.
CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH (See INSTALLATION )
PERFORM INITIALIZATION
1. Perform initialization (see INITIALIZATION ).
  CAUTION: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
