Inspection Procedure

NOTE: When replacing the master cylinder solenoid, perform zero point calibration (See CALIBRATION  ).
  1. CHECK DTC 
    1. Check the DTCs (See DTC CHECK/CLEAR  ).

      Result: 

      RESULT REFERENCE

      DTC is not output A
      DTC is output B

    B: REPAIR CIRCUIT ACCORDING TO OUTPUT CODE (See  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE TABLE   ) 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT IF SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR IS SECURELY CONNECTED 
    1. Check the skid control ECU connector's connecting condition.

      OK: The connector should be securely connected. 

    NG: CONNECT CONNECTOR TO ECU 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT BATTERY 
    1. Check the battery voltage.

      Standard: Voltage: 11 to 14 V 

    NG: INSPECT CHARGING SYSTEM (See  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION  ,  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION  ) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU (EXI TERMINAL VOLTAGE) 
    1. Transfer is in 4WD mode (Multi Mode 4WD only).
    2. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in TERMINALS VOLTAGE SPECIFICATION TABLE .

      Standard: 

      TERMINALS VOLTAGE SPECIFICATION TABLE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S28-27 (EXI) - Body ground Center diff. free 10 to 14 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (EXI CIRCUIT) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BETWEEN SKID CONTROL ECU AND COMBINATION METER) (See  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING  ) 
    1. Disconnect the combination meter connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in TERMINALS RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION TABLE .

      Standard: 

      TERMINALS RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION TABLE

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S28-35 (WT) - C10-17 Below 1
      S28-35 (WT) - Body ground 10 k or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSY 
    1. Check the combination meter system (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING ).

    NG: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY (See  COMBINATION METER ASSY  ) 

    OK: REPLACE MASTER CYLINDER SOLENOID (See  OVERHAUL  )
