Rear Door Window Frame Molding: Removal

  1. REMOVE REAR DOOR BELT MOLDING ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL   ) 
  2. REMOVE REAR DOOR FRONT WINDOW FRAME MOLDING 

    HINT:

    When installing the rear door front window frame molding, heat the vehicle body and rear door front window frame molding using a heat light.

    Heating temperature: 

    HEATING TEMPERATURE

    Item Temperature
    Vehicle Body 40 to 60°C (104 to 140°F)
    Molding 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)
    NOTE: Do not heat the vehicle body and molding excessively.
    1. Fully open the rear door glass.
    2. Using a heat light, heat the rear door front window frame molding.
    3. Using a molding remover, remove the clip and rear door front window frame molding.
  3. REMOVE REAR DOOR INSIDE HANDLE BEZEL PLUG (See  DISASSEMBLY  ) 
  4. REMOVE REAR POWER WINDOW REGULATOR SWITCH ASSEMBLY (See Step 2 in  DISASSEMBLY  ) 
  5. REMOVE REAR DOOR TRIM BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY (See Step 3 in  DISASSEMBLY  )

  6. REMOVE REAR DOOR INNER GLASS WEATHERSTRIP (See Step 5 in  DISASSEMBLY  ) 
  7. REMOVE REAR DOOR TRIM COVER (See Step 7 in  DISASSEMBLY  ) 
  8. REMOVE REAR DOOR FRAME GARNISH (See Step 8 in  DISASSEMBLY  ) 
  9. REMOVE REAR DOOR WEATHERSTRIP (See Step 14 in  DISASSEMBLY  ) 
  10. REMOVE REAR DOOR UPPER WINDOW FRAME MOLDING 
    1. Put a 4 mm (0.16 in.) drill bit into a drill.
    2. Tape the 4 mm (0.16 in.) drill bit without the portion of 5 mm (0.20 in.) from the tip covered.

      HINT:

      Tape the 4 mm (0.16 in.) drill bit to prevent the drill bit from going too deep.

    3. Lightly press the drill bit against the rivets, drill off the flanges of the rivets, and remove the 6 rivets.
      NOTE:
      • Pressing the drill too firmly will cause the rivet to turn and result in the rivet not being drilled through.
      • Do not pry the rivets with the drill, as this may cause damage to the installation holes of the rivets or the drill bit.
      • Be careful of the drilled rivets, as they may become hot.
    4. Using a vacuum cleaner, remove the rivet fragments and shavings from the drilled areas.
    5. Disengage the 2 clips and remove the rear door upper window frame molding from the door frame.
