Spiral Cable: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE: Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the airbag working.
  2. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  3. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL NO.3 COVER LOWER (See  STEERING PAD   ) 
  4. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL NO.2 COVER LOWER (See  STEERING PAD   ) 
  5. REMOVE STEERING PAD (See  REMOVAL   ) 
  6. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY 

    For 3GR-FSE (see REMOVAL )

    For 3UZ-FE (see REMOVAL )

  7. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER 

    For 3GR-FSE (see REMOVAL )

    For 3UZ-FE (see REMOVAL )

  8. REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE with STEERING SENSOR 
    1. Disconnect the connectors from the spiral cable with steering sensor.
      NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
    2. Disengage the 3 claws and remove the spiral cable with steering sensor.

  9. SEPARATE SPIRAL CABLE 
    1. Disengage the 6 claws and separate the spiral cable.
