Hood Lock Control Cable Assembly: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
  2. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH (See  EVAP SYSTEM  ) 
  3. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  4. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  5. REMOVE FRONT FENDER LINER LH (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  6. REMOVE FRONT FENDER LINER RH (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  7. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER COVER (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  8. REMOVE MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR ASSEMBLY (w/ Cruise Control System) (See  MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT  ) 
  9. REMOVE HOOD LOCK CONTROL CABLE COVER 
    1. Remove the 3 screws.
    2. Detach the claw and remove the cable cover.

  10. REMOVE FRONT FENDER PROTECTOR UPPER LH 
    1. Using a screwdriver, detach the 3 clips and remove the protector.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  11. REMOVE HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the hood lock control cable.
    2. Remove the cap.
    3. Remove the 2 bolts and nut.
    4. Remove the hood lock.

  12. REMOVE HOOD LOCK CONTROL LEVER SUBASSEMBLY 
    STANDARD CLEARANCE CHART

    Area Part Name
    A Junction block
    B Hood lock control cable
    C Parking brake pedal
    D Parking brake cable
    1. Detach the 2 claws.
    2. Disconnect the hood lock control cable and remove the hood lock lever.

  13. REMOVE HOOD LOCK CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY

    1. Using a screwdriver, disconnect the clamps shown in the illustration.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    2. Pull the cable from the engine room and remove it.
