Inspection Procedure
- CHECK DTC FOR VSC
- Check if other DTCs are recorded. (See PRE-CHECK
)
YES: REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATED BY OUTPUT CODE
NO: Go to step 2
- Check if other DTCs are recorded. (See PRE-CHECK
)
- INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR SECURELY CONNECTED (See HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT ECU CONTROLLED SYSTEMS
)
NO: CONNECT CONNECTOR TO ECU
YES
- INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU TERMINAL VOLTAGE (IG1 TERMINAL)
WHEN USING HAND-HELD TESTER:
- Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Start the engine.
- Select the DATA LIST mode on the hand-held tester.
- Check the voltage condition output from the ECU displayed on the hand-held tester.
OK: "Normal" is displayed.
WHEN NOT USING HAND-HELD TESTER:
- Disconnect the skid control ECU connector S1.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in Fig 2 .

Standard:
NO: Go to step 5
OK: GO TO NEXT STEP.
- CHECK VSC WARNING LIGHT
WHEN USING HAND-HELD TESTER:
- Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3 and start the engine.
- Select the item "VSC WARN LIGHT" in the ACTIVE TEST and operate the VSC warning light on the hand-held tester.
- Check that "ON" and "OFF" of the VSC warning light can be shown on the combination meter by the hand-held tester.
WHEN NOT USING HAND-HELD TESTER:
- Turn the ignition switch off and disconnect the connector S1 from the skid control ECU.
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
- Check that the VSC warning light goes off.

NG: CHECK AND REPAIR VSC WARNING LIGHT CIRCUIT (See ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE )
OK: REPLACE ABS & TRACTION ACTUATOR ASSY (See REPLACEMENT )
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - BODY GROUND)
- Disconnect the skid control ECU connector S1.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in Fig 5 .

Standard:
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: GO TO NEXT STEP.
- INSPECT BATTERY
- Check the battery positive voltage.
OK: Voltage: 10 to 14V
NG: INSPECT CHARGING SYSTEM (See IGNITION SYSTEM (3MZ-FE) )
OK: CHECK AND REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - TERMINAL IG1)
