Inspection Procedure
HINT:
Start the inspection from step 1 when using the hand-held tester and start from step 2 when not using the hand-held tester.
- READ VALUE OF HAND-HELD TESTER
- Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Start the engine.
- Select the DATA LIST mode on the hand-held tester.
- Read the value of the brake pedal load sensing switch displayed on the hand-held tester when depressing and releasing the brake pedal.
Standard:
NG: Go to step 3
OK: GO TO NEXT STEP.
- RECONFIRM DTC
- Check if other DTCs are recorded. (See PRE-CHECK
)
NO: Go to step 3
YES: REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATED BY OUTPUT CODE
- Check if other DTCs are recorded. (See PRE-CHECK
)
- INSPECT BRAKE PEDAL SUB-ASSY NOTE: Do not disassemble the brake pedal sub-assy.
HINT:
Replace the brake pedal sub-assy when there is a malfunction in the brake pedal load sensing switch.
- Disconnect the brake pedal load sensing switch connector B8.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in Fig 3 .

Standard:
NG: REPAIR BRAKE PEDAL SUB-ASSY (See ADJUSTMENTS )
OK: GO TO NEXT STEP.
- CHECK HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - BRAKE PEDAL LOAD SENSING SWITCH)
- Disconnect the skid control ECU connector S1 and the brake pedal load sensing switch connector B8.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in Fig 5
.
Standard:
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in Fig 6 .
