Engine Coolant Temperature Gauge Circuit
NOTE:
If not using the hand-held tester, begin with step 2.
- Perform the active test. Connect the hand-held tester to DLC3. See Figure. Turn the ignition switch ON and hand-held tester main switch ON. Select the ACTIVE TEST mode on the hand-held tester. Check that the probe moves as the hand-held tester directs each range. If the probe operates normally, go to ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENDER GAUGE under COMPONENT TESTS. If the probe does not operate normally, go to the next step.
- Check the engine coolant temperature receiver gauge. See ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE RECEIVER GAUGE under COMPONENT TESTS. If the results are OK, go to the next step. If the results are not good, replace the engine coolant temperature receiver gauge. See COMBINATION METER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Check the engine coolant temperature sender gauge. See ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENDER GAUGE under COMPONENT TESTS. If the results are OK, go to the next step. If the results are not good, replace the engine coolant temperature sender gauge.
- Check the circuit plate. See COMBINATION METER CIRCUIT PLATE . If the results are OK, check and replace the combination meter. See COMBINATION METER CIRCUIT . If the results are not good, replace the circuit plate. See COMBINATION METER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
