Installation (Except LS 430)

  1. On ES 300, IS 300, RX 300 and SC 430 models, install parking brake shoe lever with new "C" clip.
  2. On all models, to complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Apply high temperature grease to adjuster and shoe contact points. See Figure.
  3. Install shoe strut with spring facing forward.
  4. Tighten all fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  5. Adjust parking brake shoe clearance. See PARKING BRAKE SHOE CLEARANCE  under ADJUSTMENTS.
  6. Pull bellcrank until all play in interior linkage is taken up.
  7. Screw in bellcrank adjusting bolt until it touches on dust seal. See Figure.
  8. Loosen bellcrank adjusting bolt one turn, and lock with lock nut. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  9. On all models, install rear wheel and tighten lug nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  10. Seat parking brake shoes and disc. See SEATING PARKING BRAKE SHOES AND DISC  under .
  11. On vehicles so equipped, check and adjust parking brake pedal. See PARKING BRAKE  under ADJUSTMENTS.
  12. On vehicles so equipped, check and adjust parking brake lever travel. See PARKING BRAKE LEVER  under ADJUSTMENTS.
