DTC P017B-64: Cylinder Head Temperature Sensor Circuit Range/Performance - Signal plausibility failure: Action
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Vehicle Conditions to enable DTC
Logging Strategy
- Start and drive vehicle at steady state, low load condition for 20 minutes
- Prioritized Checks to Perform
- Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment check datalogger signal
- Cylinder Head Temperature (0x051D)
- Cylinder Head Temperature Sensor Voltage (0x0392)
- Check cooling system for mechanical and fluid integrity
- Check cooling fan system for mechanical integrity
- Check thermostat system for mechanical integrity
- Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and check the cylinder head temperature sensor circuit for short circuit to ground, short circuit to power, open circuit, high resistance
- Inspect connectors for signs of water ingress, and pins for damage and/or corrosion
- Install new cylinder head temperature sensor, only when diagnosed as failed
- Refer to the appropriate service information and check the engine cooling system to make sure the coolant condition, level and flow is correct
- Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, clear all stored Diagnostic Trouble Code(s) and retest
