Pinpoint Test A: Variable Coolant Pump Diagnostics
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- A1: INITIAL COOLANT PUMP DIAGNOSTIC TEST
- Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, run coolant pump diagnostic. Using a picoscope, monitor pump Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) signal
- Call out 1 - Voltage
- Call out 2 - Time in seconds
- Call out 3 - Baseline signal ~12 V
- Call out A - Signal drops for 0.5 seconds. Coolant pump is functioning correctly. No fault has been detected and no coolant pump DTC
- Call out B - Signal drops for 1 second. Coolant pump has detected dry running. Possible loose coolant system connections, low coolant level or blockages in the system. Check for P2B83 DTC
- Call out C - Signal drops for 1.5 seconds. Coolant pump is stalling due to high impeller resistance. Possible blockages or trapped air in the cooling system. Check for P2B84 DTC
- Call out D - Signal drops for 2 seconds. Coolant pump is exceeding the thermal operating limits. Possible coolant system heat rejection issue or engine thermal issue. Check for P026E DTC
- Call out E - Signal drops for 2.5 seconds. Coolant pump is detecting a voltage issue. Possible power supply or ground faults. Check P2BC2 DTC
Did the signal drop for 0.5 seconds?
Yes: Complete the diagnostic routine on the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment
No: If there was no signal, diagnose the set DTC s in the following order: PCM detected DTC s - P023A, P023B, P023C - Followed by coolant pump signal DTC s - P2B83, P2B84, P026E, P2BC2. Retest after completing the repair actions for each DTC . GO to Pinpoint Test B .
