Upper Timing Cover (G2385450): Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. CAUTION:
    • Use only a plastic scraper when removing the sealing material.
    • Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.
    • Make sure that the Jaguar Land Rover approved cleaning fluid (Loctite 7063) is used to clean the mating faces.

    • Make sure that all traces of the old sealant are removed from the mating surfaces.
    • Lubricate the camshaft cover gasket with clean engine oil.

      Refer to: ENGINE - V6 S/C 3.0L PETROL 

  2. NOTE:
    • Only complete this step if this component was previously removed.
    • Inspect the O-ring seals, if damaged, replace the CMP  s.

    • Lubricate the 2 O-ring seals with new engine oil.

      Refer to: ENGINE - V6 S/C 3.0L PETROL 

    • Install the 2 CMP  s.
    • Install and tighten the 2 bolts.

      Torque  : 10 Nm 

  3. CAUTION: Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.

    Apply a 3 mm diameter bead of sealant to the area illustrated, tighten the bolts within 7 minutes.

    Refer to: ENGINE - V6 S/C 3.0L PETROL 

  4. CAUTION: Make sure the camshaft cover gasket is fully visible, is not damaged and is seated correctly as illustrated.

    • Install the upper timing cover.
    • Install, but do not fully tighten the 8 bolts.

    Install and tighten the 8 bolts in the sequence illustrated.

    Torque  : 13 Nm 

    • Install the 2 VCT  solenoids.
    • Install and tighten the 4 bolts.

      Torque  : 12 Nm 

    • Install the right accessory drive belt pulley.
    • Install and tighten the bolt.

      Torque  : 48 Nm 

  8. Install the right accessory drive belt pulley cap.
    • Install the wiring harness.
    • Install and tighten the bolt.

      Torque  : 10 Nm 

    • Install the 2 wiring harness clips.
    • Connect the 4 electrical connectors.
  10. CAUTION:

    • Make sure that the Jaguar Land Rover approved cleaning fluid (Loctite 7063) is used to clean the mating faces.

  11. NOTE:

    • Install the 2 CMP  s.
    • Install and tighten the 2 bolts.

      Torque  : 10 Nm 

  12. CAUTION: Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.

  13. CAUTION: Make sure the camshaft cover gasket is fully visible, is not damaged and is seated correctly as illustrated.

    • Install the upper timing cover.
    • Install, but do not fully tighten the 8 bolts.

    Install and tighten the 8 bolts in the sequence illustrated.

    Torque  : 13 Nm 

    • Install the 2 VCT  solenoids.
    • Install and tighten the 4 bolts.

      Torque  : 12 Nm 

    • Install the left accessory drive belt pulley.
    • Install and tighten the bolt.

      Torque  : 48 Nm 

  17. Install the left accessory drive belt pulley cap.
    • Install the wiring harness.
    • Install and tighten the bolt.

      Torque  : 10 Nm 

    • Install the wiring harness clip.
    • Connect the 4 electrical connectors.
  19. Install the HP  fuel rail supply line.

    Refer to: FUEL RAIL SUPPLY PIPE

  20. Install the electric thermostat.

    Refer to: ELECTRIC THERMOSTAT

  21. Install the accessory drive belt.

    Refer to: ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT

  22. Connect the startup battery ground cable.

    Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT
