Right Exhaust Manifold (G2063424): Installation

The following step(s) applies to: 

All vehicles 

1. CAUTION:

   • Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.
   • Make sure the anti-seize compound does not contact the catalyst monitor sensor tip.
   • If accidentally dropped or knocked install a new sensor.
   • Make sure the catalyst monitor sensor wiring harness is not twisted more than 180 degrees and is not in contact with either the exhaust or driveshaft.
   NOTE: If the original sensor is to be installed, apply lubricant meeting specification ESE-M12A4-A to the thread of the sensor.

   Install and tighten the catalyst monitor sensor.

   Torque  : 45 Nm 

2. NOTE: If the exhaust manifold is being fitted to the original cylinder head use the special tools in the illustration.

   • Install the locating tools into the cylinder head assembly.

     Special Tool(s): 303-1444-01 

   • Install a new gasket.

     Renew Part: Exhaust manifold gasket Quantity: 1  .

   • Install the exhaust manifold using the locating tools to make sure the exhaust manifold is fitted in the correct position.
3. NOTE: If a new cylinder head is installed use the special tools in the illustration.

   • Install the locating tools into the cylinder head assembly.

     Special Tool(s): 303-1444-02 

   • Install a new gasket.
   • Install the exhaust manifold using the locating tools to make sure the exhaust manifold is fitted in the correct position.
4. CAUTION: Make sure that new bolts are installed.
   NOTE: Install the spacers in the noted position.

   • Install the spacers in the previously noted position.
   • Install and tighten the 4 new bolts as illustrated.

     Install the Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1652 

     Renew Part: Exhaust manifold bolts Quantity: 4  .

     Torque  : 10 Nm

   Remove the special tool.

   Special Tool(s): 303-1444-02  , 303-1444-01 

6. CAUTION: Make sure that new bolts are installed.
   NOTE: Install the spacers in the noted position.

   • Install the remaining 2 spacers in the previously noted position.
   • Install and tighten the remaining 2 new bolts as illustrated.

     Renew Part: Exhaust manifold bolts Quantity: 2  .

     Torque  : 10 Nm 

7. Fig 1: Exhaust Manifold Bolts Tightening Sequence

   Tighten the bolts in the sequence illustrated.

   Remove the Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1652 

   Torque  : 18 Nm 

8. • Install the exhaust manifold heat shield.
   • Install and tighten the 4 exhaust manifold heatshield bolts.

     Torque  : 3 Nm 

The following step(s) applies to: 

Vehicles with Gasoline Particulate Filter (GPF) 

1. • Reposition the gasoline particulate filter differential pressure sensor assembly into the correct position.
   • Install and tighten the 2 bracket nuts.

     Torque  : 12 Nm 

   • Install 2 new gasoline particulate filter differential pressure sensor washers.
   • Install and tighten the banjo bolt.

     Torque  : 25 Nm 

The following step(s) applies to: 

All vehicles 

1. • Install the accessory drive belt pulley assembly.
   • Install and tighten the 3 bolts.

     Torque  : 25 Nm 

2. CAUTION: Make sure the catalyst monitor sensor wiring harness is not twisted more than 180 degrees and is not in contact with either the exhaust or driveshaft.

   Connect the catalyst monitor sensor electrical connector.

3. Install the right engine mount.

   Refer to: RIGHT ENGINE MOUNT 

4. Install the right catalytic converter.

   Refer to: RIGHT CATALYTIC CONVERTER

5. Install the accessory drive belt.

   Refer to: ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT

6. Connect the startup battery ground cable.

   Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT
