Oil Pan (G2131742): Removal

NOTE:

This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.

Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT
Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: LIFTING
Drain the engine oil.
Refer to: ENGINE OIL VACUUM DRAINING AND FILLING
Remove the engine.
Refer to: ENGINE
Remove the lower timing cover.
Refer to: LOWER TIMING COVER
Remove the high pressure fuel pump 2.
Refer to: HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP 2
Remove the high pressure fuel pump 1.
Refer to: HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP 1

Using the special tool remove the flexplate and discard the bolts.

Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1304
Remove the special tool.

Remove the front differential assembly.

Remove and discard the front differential O-ring seal.

Disconnect the oil level electrical connector and release the clip.

Remove the 4 clips securing the wiring harness to the oil pan.

Remove the 4 bolts.

Remove the wiring harness cover.
NOTE: Note the orientation of the bolts prior to removal.

Remove the oil pan bolts.
NOTE: Make sure to use the aluminum lug provided on the oil pan to lever against.

Carefully lever the oil pan away from the cylinder block using a suitable tool.
CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping oil.

- Remove the oil pan assembly.
- remove and discard the seal.
NOTE: Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.

Remove the oil level sensor and discard the O-ring seal.
