Fuel Pump Camshaft Timing Check (G1851629): Check

NOTE:

Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT
Remove the air deflector.
Refer to: AIR DEFLECTOR
Drain the engine oil.
Refer to: ENGINE OIL VACUUM DRAINING AND FILLING

Remove the crankshaft position sensor.
CAUTION:
- Only rotate the crankshaft clockwise.
- Make sure that the crankshaft is fully locked.

Using the special tool lock the crankshaft.

Using a suitable marker, mark the position of the crankshaft pulley as illustrated.

Remove the brake vacuum pump and discard the seal.

Remove the special tool.

Carefully adjust the crankshaft position to allow correct installation of the special tool.

Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1621
CAUTION: Do not use excessive force when adjusting the crankshaft position.

NOTE: If the crankshaft timing tool cannot be installed, adjustment of the fuel pump camshaft timing will be required.

Install the special tool.

Remove the special tools.

Install the new seal and the brake vacuum pump.

Renew Part: Brake vacuum pump O-ring seal Quantity: 1 .

Torque : 12 Nm

Remove the special tool.

Install the crankshaft position sensor.

Torque : 10 Nm
Fill the engine oil
Refer to: ENGINE OIL VACUUM DRAINING AND FILLING
Install the air deflector.
Refer to: AIR DEFLECTOR
Connect the battery ground cable.
Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT
