Timing Chain(S), Guide(S) And TENSIONER(S) (G2735403): Installation

Make sure the fuel pump drive sprocket is aligned with the timing mark on the cylinder block as illustrated.

Install the lower timing chain.
CAUTION: Make sure the highlighted links on the timing chain are in line with the timing marks as illustrated.

- Install a new lower timing chain guide.
  Renew Part: Lower timing chain guide Quantity: 1 .
  
  CAUTION: Only replace the timing chain guide when replacing the timing chain, guides and tensioners as a set.
- Install and tighten the bolt.
  Torque : 25 Nm
CAUTION: Only replace the timing chain guide when replacing the timing chain, guides and tensioners as a set.

Install a new lower timing chain guide.

Renew Part: Lower timing chain guide Quantity: 1 .
CAUTION: Make sure the highlighted links on the timing chain are in line with the timing marks as illustrated.

- Install the lower timing chain drive sprocket.
- Install and tighten the bolt.
  Torque : 35 Nm

- Install a new lower timing chain guide.
  Renew Part: Lower timing chain guide Quantity: 1 .
  
  CAUTION: Only replace the timing chain guide when replacing the timing chain, guides and tensioners as a set.
- Install and tighten the bolt.
  Torque : 12 Nm

- Install a new lower timing chain tensioner.
  Renew Part: Timing chain tensioner Quantity: 1 .
  
  CAUTION: Only replace the timing chain guide when replacing the timing chain, guides and tensioners as a set.
- Install and tighten the bolts.
  Torque : 12 Nm

Make sure the lower timing chain tensioner is fully deployed.
Install the lower timing cover.
Refer to: LOWER TIMING COVER
CAUTION: Only replace the components on this step when replacing the timing chain(s), guide(s) and tensioner(s) as a set.

Install the upper timing chain.

Refer to: UPPER TIMING CHAIN - REMOVE FOR ACCESS

Renew Part: Right upper timing chain guide Quantity: 1 .

Renew Part: Left upper timing chain guide Quantity: 1 .

Renew Part: Upper timing chain Quantity: 1 .
Connect the startup battery ground cable.
