Right Fuel Injectors (G1879935): Removal

CAUTION: Diesel fuel injection equipment is manufactured to very precise tolerances and fine clearances. It is therefore essential that absolute cleanliness is observed when working with these components. Always install new blanking plugs to any open orifices or lines. Failure to follow this instruction may result in foreign matter ingress to the fuel injection system.

NOTE:

This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
Refurbished fuel injector leak off connector color does not denote the fuel injector flow characteristics. Only the refurbished part number is to be used to identify the type of injector.

Disconnect the startup battery.
Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT
Remove the engine cover.
Refer to: ENGINE COVER - TDV6 3.0L DIESEL

Remove the wiring harness cover.

- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Remove the wiring harness bracket.
Remove the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve outlet tube.

Remove the Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) material.

- Disconnect the 3 electrical connectors.
- Release the 2 wiring harness clips.
Always complete the cleaning process before carrying out any repairs to the fuel injection system components. Failure to follow this instruction may result in foreign matter ingress to the fuel injection system.

CAUTION:
- Be prepared to collect escaping fuel.
- Before disconnecting or removing components, make sure the area around the joint faces and connections are clean. Plug open connections to prevent contamination.
NOTE: Make sure that the fuel injector return line has a maximum of 8 uses.

Disconnect the 3 fuel injector return line connectors.

Remove the High Pressure (HP) fuel supply line clamp.
CAUTION:
- Be prepared to collect escaping fuel.
- Before disconnecting or removing the components, make sure the area around the joint faces and connections are clean.

Remove and discard the 3 HP fuel supply lines.
NOTE:
- If a new injector has been installed, note the injector identification number and cylinder number before installation.
- Repeat this step for each of the fuel injectors.

Remove and discard the 2 fuel injector clamp bolts.

Install the special tools.

Using the special tools, remove the fuel injector.

Remove the special tools.

Special Tool(s): 100-012 , 310-213
Remove the 2 remaining fuel injectors.
NOTE:
- This step is only required if new components are not installed.
- Remove and discard the O-ring seals.
- Discard the sealing washers.
- Repeat this step for each of the fuel injectors.
