High Pressure Fuel Pump 2 (G2131765): Removal

WARNING: This procedure involves fuel handling. Be prepared for fuel spillage at all times and always observe fuel handling precautions. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

CAUTION:

Do not allow the unions to hit the olive ends of the high-pressure fuel supply line as this may damage the ends of the high-pressure fuel supply line and allow foreign matter to enter the fuel injection system.
Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from foreign material. When disconnected all openings must be sealed.

NOTE:

This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.

Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

Before working on the fuel system make sure to study the fuel system health and safety.

Release the fuel system pressure.
Refer to: FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE
Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT
Remove the engine cover.
Refer to: ENGINE COVER - V6 S/C 3.0L PETROL
Remove the right side air cleaner outlet pipe.
Refer to: RIGHT AIR CLEANER OUTLET PIPE
Drain the engine oil.
Refer to: ENGINE OIL VACUUM DRAINING AND FILLING
CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping coolant.

Disconnect the 2 front left supercharger coolant hoses.
CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping fuel.

Release the 2 fuel pipes from the clips.

Remove the Noise, Vibration Harshness (NVH) material.
CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping coolant.

Disconnect the 2 front right supercharger coolant hoses.

Disconnect the coolant pipe.

Remove the NVH material.

Release the engine wiring harness from the clip.
Clean all the fuel pipe unions and the surrounding area before working on the fuel system.

CAUTION:
- Be prepared to collect escaping fuel.
- This fuel pipe can be re-used, inspect for signs of damage. Renew if necessary.

Remove the crossover fuel pipe.

Remove the front left engine mount nut.
Remove the halfshaft support bracket.

Remove the generator.
Refer to: GENERATOR

Remove the idler pulley bracket.
CAUTION: Use a wooden block to protect the oil pan when supporting the engine.
