Cooling Module (G2135290): Removal

WARNING: Be prepared to collect escaping coolant.

CAUTION: Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from foreign material. When disconnected all openings must be sealed.

NOTE:

This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.

Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: LIFTING
Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT
Recover the Air Conditioning (AC) system.
Refer to: AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM RECOVERY, EVACUATION AND CHARGING
Remove the front bumper.
Refer to: FRONT BUMPER - VEHICLES WITH: CORE SPECIFICATION
Partially drain the cooling system.
Refer to: COOLING SYSTEM PARTIAL DRAINING AND VACUUM FILLING

Release the coolant pipe and remove the air ducts.

Remove the radiator support brackets.

Disconnect the electrical connectors.

Disconnect the upper coolant hoses and pipe.

Disconnect and release the coolant hoses.

Release the coolant hoses.

Disconnect the auxiliary coolant pump electrical connector.

Disconnect and release the auxiliary coolant pump.

Disconnect the charge air cooler radiator upper hose.

Disconnect the AC pipes. Discard the O-ring seals.
CAUTION: Make sure that the cooling module is supported for this step.

Remove the right side coolant module bracket.
CAUTION: Make sure that the cooling module is supported for this step.

Remove the left side coolant module bracket.
CAUTION: This step must be carried out with the assistance of another technician.
