Exhaust Manifold - INGENIUM I4 2.0L Diesel - Mid, Low Power (G1817151): Installation

The following step(s) applies to: 

All vehicles 

1. Install a new gasket.

   Renew Part: Exhaust manifold gasket Quantity: 1 . 

2. CAUTION: If the original cylinder head is installed use the special tools stated in this step. Failure to follow this instruction may cause damage to the cylinder head.

   Special Tool(s): 303-1444-01 

3. CAUTION: If a new cylinder head is installed use the special tools stated in this step. Failure to follow this instruction may cause damage to the cylinder head.

   Special Tool(s): 303-1444-02 

4. Fig 1: Exhaust Manifold Bolts Tightening Sequence

   Tighten the retaining bolts in the illustrated sequence.

   Install the Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1652 

   Torque 

   Stage 1: 15 Nm 

   Stage 2: 28 Nm

   Remove the special tools.

   Special Tool(s): 303-1444-01  , 303-1444-02

   Tighten the retaining bolts in the illustrated sequence.

   Remove the Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1652 

   Torque 

   Stage 1: 15 Nm 

   Stage 2: 28 Nm 

7. • Install the EGR pipe.
   • Install a new gasket.

     Renew Part: Exhaust gas recirculation gasket Quantity: 1 . 

     Torque  : 12 Nm 

8. Install the heatshields.

   Torque  : 8 Nm 

The following step(s) applies to: 

Vehicles with diesel particulate filter (DPF) 

1. Install the catalytic converter and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) assembly.

   Refer to: CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER ASSEMBLY

The following step(s) applies to: 

Vehicles without diesel particulate filter (DPF) 

1. Install the catalytic converter assembly.

   Refer to: CATALYTIC CONVERTER

The following step(s) applies to: 

All vehicles 

1. Install the turbocharger.

   Refer to: TURBOCHARGER - INGENIUM I4 2.0L DIESEL - MID, LOW POWER

2. Connect the startup battery ground cable.

   Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT
