Exhaust Manifold - INGENIUM I4 2.0L Diesel - High Power (G1914797): Removal

WARNING: Observe due care when working near a hot exhaust system.

CAUTION: Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from foreign material. When disconnected all openings must be sealed.

NOTE:

This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.

Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: LIFTING
Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT
Remove the low pressure turbocharger.

Disconnect the Turbocharger electrical connector.

Release the turbocharger oil feed pipe. Discard the banjo bolt and washers.

Remove the turbocharger air outlet pipe.

Remove and discard the seals.

Remove the exhaust manifold upper heatshields.

Remove the exhaust manifold lower heatshields.
Remove the turbocharger oil return pipe. Discard the seals.
WARNING: Be prepared to collect escaping oil.

NOTE: Components must be removed in the sequence illustrated.

Remove the turbocharger support bracket.

Release the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cross over pipe from the exhaust manifold. Discard the gasket.

Use the special tool to remove the exhaust manifold bolts.

Install the Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1652

Remove the exhaust manifold. Discard the bolts and spacers.

Remove and discard the exhaust manifold gasket.
