Crankshaft Rear Seal (G1947459): Installation

    CAUTION: Make sure that the area around the component is clean and free of foreign material.

    Install the special tool (JLR-303-1674) to the rear of the crankshaft.

    Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1674A 

  2. CAUTION:
    • Make sure a new seal is installed.
    • If the seal is removed from the spacer provided, a new seal must be installed.
    • Make sure that the area around the component is clean and free of foreign material.
    NOTE: The component labeled B in the illustration is a alignment spacer provided with a new seal.

    Position the new crankshaft oil seal (A) and spacer (B) over special tool JLR-303-1674. Carefully slide the crankshaft oil seal (A) over the end of the crankshaft and discard the spacer (B).

    Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1674A 

    Renew Part: Crankshaft rear seal Quantity: 1 .

    • Install the second part of special tool JLR-303-1674 to position the crankshaft oil seal correctly.
      CAUTION: Make sure the seal is installed correctly.
    • Tighten the bolt until the seal is fully installed and the bolt stops turning.

      Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1674A 

  4. Install the drive plate.

    Refer to: FLEXPLATE 

  5. Lower the vehicle.
  6. Connect the battery ground cable.

    Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT
