Low Pressure Turbocharger - INGENIUM I4 2.0L Diesel - High Power (G1914799): Removal

The following step(s) applies to: 

All vehicles

1. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

   Refer to: LIFTING

2. Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.

   Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT

3. Remove the charge air cooler intake pipe.

   Refer to: CHARGE AIR COOLER INTAKE PIPE - INGENIUM I4 2.0L DIESEL - HIGH POWER

4. Remove the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler.

   Refer to: LOW PRESSURE EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION COOLER

   Release the vacuum pipes.

6. CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping coolant.

   Release the coolant hoses.

The following step(s) applies to: 

Vehicles with diesel particulate filter (DPF)

1. Remove the catalytic converter and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) assembly.

   Refer to: CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER ASSEMBLY

The following step(s) applies to: 

Vehicles without diesel particulate filter (DPF)

1. Remove the catalytic converter assembly

   Refer to: CATALYTIC CONVERTER

The following step(s) applies to: 

All vehicles

   Remove the turbocharger upper heatshield.

2. WARNING: Be prepared to collect escaping oil.

   • Release the turbocharger oil feed pipe.
   • Remove and discard the banjo bolt and washers.

   • Release the exhaust gas pressure sensor.
   • Reposition the exhaust gas pressure sensor pipe away from the turbocharger.
   • Release the exhaust manifold temperature sensor.
   • Reposition the exhaust manifold temperature sensor away from the turbocharger.

   Remove the turbocharger lower heatshield.

5. WARNING: Be prepared to collect escaping oil.

   Release the low pressure turbocharger oil return pipe.

6. CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping oil.

   • Remove the low pressure turbocharger oil return pipe in the sequence illustrated.
   • Remove and discard the O-ring seals.

   Release the low pressure turbocharger.

   • Remove the Low Pressure (LP) turbocharger.
   • Discard the gasket.

   Inspect the seal. Replace if damaged.
