Low Pressure Turbocharger - INGENIUM I4 2.0L Diesel - High Power (G1914799): Installation

The following step(s) applies to: 

All vehicles

1. • Install the LP  turbocharger.
   • Install a new gasket.

     Renew Part: Turbocharger to exhaust manifold gasket Quantity: 1 . 

   • Torque  : 27 Nm 
2. • Install the low pressure turbocharger oil return pipe.
   • Install new O-ring seals.

     Renew Part: Upper oil return pipe O-ring seal Quantity: 1 . 

     Renew Part: Lower oil return pipe O-ring seal(s) Quantity: 2 . 

   • Torque 

     Oil return pipe to turbocharger: 11 Nm 

     Oil return pipe mounting bracket: 10 Nm 

3. • Install the turbocharger lower heatshield.

     Torque  : 9 Nm 

4. CAUTION:

   • If the original exhaust manifold temperature sensor is to be installed, apply anti-seize compound meeting specification ESE-M12A4-A to the thread of the sensor.
   • Make sure the anti-seize compound does not contact the tip of the sensor.
   • Reposition the exhaust manifold temperature sensor into the correct location.
   • Install and tighten the exhaust manifold temperature sensor.

     Torque  : 44 Nm 

   • Reposition the exhaust gas pressure sensor pipe into the correct location.
   • Install and tighten the exhaust gas pressure sensor.

     Torque  : 35 Nm 

5. • Install the turbocharger oil feed pipe.
   • Install new banjo bolt washers.

     Renew Part: Turbocharger oil feed pipe banjo bolt washers Quantity: 2 . 

   • Install and tighten the banjo bolt.

     Torque  : 18 Nm 

6. • Install the turbocharger upper heatshield.

     Torque  : 9 Nm 

The following step(s) applies to: 

Vehicles with diesel particulate filter (DPF)

1. Install the catalytic converter and DPF  assembly.

   Refer to: CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER ASSEMBLY

The following step(s) applies to: 

Vehicles without diesel particulate filter (DPF)

1. Install the catalytic converter assembly.

   Refer to: CATALYTIC CONVERTER

The following step(s) applies to: 

All vehicles

1. Install the coolant hoses.
2. Connect the vacuum pipes.
3. Install the EGR  cooler.

   Refer to: LOW PRESSURE EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION COOLER

4. Install the charge air cooler intake pipe.

   Refer to: CHARGE AIR COOLER INTAKE PIPE - INGENIUM I4 2.0L DIESEL - HIGH POWER

5. Connect the startup battery ground cable.

   Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT

6. If a new turbocharger is installed, the powertrain air path learn process must be done with the use of the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) approved diagnostic equipment.
