Exhaust System - INGENIUM I4 2.0L Diesel (G2057293): Removal

The following step(s) applies to:

All vehicles

WARNING: Observe due care when working near a hot exhaust system.

CAUTION: Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from foreign material. When disconnected all openings must be sealed.

NOTE:

This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.

Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: LIFTING
Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT

- Remove the 23 fixings.
- Remove the right side undershield.

- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Remove the cross member.

- Release the wiring harness from the 6 clips.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Release the post Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) NOx sensor from the 5 clips.

Vehicles with Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)

Disconnect the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) injector electrical connector.

- Release the DEF injector clamp.
- Reposition and secure the DEF injector to one side.
- Remove and discard the DEF injector clamp.

The following step(s) applies to:

All vehicles

CAUTION: Make sure that the exhaust system is supported with suitable retaining straps.

- Remove the 2 nuts.
- Release the exhaust from the catalytic converter.
- Remove and discard the gasket.
CAUTION: Make sure the exhaust system is supported at all times.

Release the exhaust system rear silencer from the 2 exhaust hanger mounting brackets.
NOTE: Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.

- Release the exhaust system rear silencer from the 2 exhaust hanger mounting brackets.
- With the aid of another technician, remove the exhaust system.

Use the special tool to remove the SCR NOx sensor.

Remove the front Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) damper.

Remove the rear NVH dampers.
