| Engine performance poor |
- Engine system fault
- Intake pipe restricted/blocked
- Charge air cooler hoses leaking
- Charge air cooler leaking
- Turbine bypass control actuator detached/seized
- Turbocharger failure
- General engine condition
|
NOTE:
If a new turbocharger is installed, perform routine - 'Clear Turbocharger Waste Gate Adaption Values'. Select - 'ECU Diagnostics'/'Powertrain Control Module (PCM)'/'List of ECU functions'/'Clear Turbocharger Waste Gate Adaption Values'
- Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, check the powertrain control module for related Diagnostic Trouble Code(s) and refer to the relevant DTC
index
- Check the intake pipe for restrictions and blockages. Rectify as necessary
- Check the charge air cooler hoses for leaks. Rectify as necessary
- Check the charge air cooler for leaks. Rectify as necessary
- Check the integrity of the turbine bypass control actuator and link rod. Rectify as necessary
- Check the integrity of the turbocharger. Rectify as necessary
- Check the engine condition, compressions, etc. Rectify as necessary
|
| Rattling noise evident from under the hood. The noise may be louder when the vehicle is started from cold, or under load or overrun |
- Excessive movement in the turbocharger turbine bypass actuator arm linkage
|
NOTE:
If a new turbocharger is installed, perform routine - 'Clear Turbocharger Waste Gate Adaption Values'. Select - 'ECU Diagnostics'/'PCM
'/'List of ECU functions'/'Clear Turbocharger Waste Gate Adaption Values'
- Check the turbocharger turbine bypass actuator arm linkage for excessive movement. If excessive movement is evident, install a new turbocharger assembly. Refer to: TURBOCHARGER
|
| Squeaking noise evident from the engine compartment and possible sticking of the turbine bypass actuator arm linkage |
- No grease, or incorrect grease applied to the turbocharger turbine bypass actuator arm linkage and pins
|
|
| Malfunction indicator lamp illuminated and turbocharger/supercharger waste gate stuck open/closed Diagnostic Trouble Code(s) P254B-00/P25B3-00 are set |
- Turbocharger waste gate mechanical fault
- Turbocharger failure
|
NOTE:
- If a new turbocharger is installed, perform routine - 'Clear Turbocharger Waste Gate Adaption Values'. Select - 'ECU Diagnostics'/'PCM
'/'List of ECU functions'/'Clear Turbocharger Waste Gate Adaption Values'
- During inspection do not attempt to disconnect, manipulate or put pressure on the waste gate rod, doing so can result in damage and loss of function of waste gate actuation
- Review the images below and check for any of the concerns shown, if any of the below concerns are identified, install a new turbocharger. Refer to: TURBOCHARGER
