Four Wheel Alignment

NOTE: Only use calibrated equipment recommended by Land Rover.
A change in camber means a change in toe, therefore camber must always be adjusted first (only where adjustable).
  1. Note the correct geometry values before carrying out this procedure.

    Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS

  2. Check the tie rod ends, suspension joints, wheel bearings and wheels and tires for damage, wear and free play. Check and adjust the tire pressures.
  3. Roll the vehicle backwards and forwards to settle the steering and suspension.
  4. Align the steering to straight ahead.
NOTE: Carry out Steps 5 to 9 only if the rear subframe has been removed.
  5. G11715740

Loosen, but do not fully remove the bolts.

  6. G11715741

Adjust the wheel base. Note the readings from the steering geometry test equipment and adjust the geometry as required.

  7. G11715742

Adjust the axle set-back. Note the readings from the steering geometry test equipment and adjust the geometry as required.

  8. G11715743

Adjust the axle lateral off-set. Note the readings from the steering geometry test equipment and adjust the geometry as required.

  9. G11715740

    Install new bolts.

    Torque Specifications:

    Stage 1: 110 Nm

    Stage 2: 120°

  10. NOTE: Both toe links must be adjusted by an equal amount.
    G11715745

Adjust the rear wheel toe alignment. Note the readings from the steering geometry test equipment and adjust the geometry as required.

    Torque Specifications:

    Stage 1: 40 Nm

    Stage 2: 60°

  11. CAUTION: To prevent damage to the tie rods, use an additional wrench when loosening or tightening the components.
Do not allow the gaiter to twist.
NOTE: Both tie rods must be rotated by an equal amount.
Repeat the procedure for the other side.
    G11715746

Adjust the front wheel toe alignment. Note the readings from the steering geometry test equipment and adjust the geometry as required.

    Torque Specification: 100 Nm

  12. Check, and if necessary, repeat the wheel alignment procedure until the correct values are obtained.
  13. Using the Land Rover approved diagnostic system, calibrate the steering angle sensor.
